3 assorted white/cream prints (appliqué background) 3/8 yd. each
Assorted bright prints (appliqué) 1/2 -1 yd. total
Purple print and green texture (pieced borders) 1/2 yd. each
Green/purple plaid (middle border) 5/8 yd.
Green/pink print (binding) 1/2 yd.
Backing 2 3/4 yds.
Batting Crib size
Paper-backed fusible web 1 yd.
Sewing thread
Machine quilting thread
3/8" striped grosgrain ribbon
... 3/8 yd. pink/green
... 5/8 yd. purple/blue

Super simple construction and fusible appliqué make this a fast, fun project. Deb designed this quilt for her little princess, and yours will love it too!

Cut!
3 assorted white/cream printscut from each:
... 1 strip 8 1/2" x 24 1/2"
Assorted bright prints
cut 1 set of:

cut 1 set of:

cut 1 set of:
... 3 matching Template H
cut 1 set of:
... 2 matching Template J
cut a total of:
... 4 Template A
... 1 each Templates B, C, D, E, F, I, K, L, M, and Q
... 2 each Templates N, O, and P
Purple print
... 32 rectangles 2 1/2" x 4 1/2"
... 2 squares 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
Green texture
... 28 rectangles 2 1/2" x 4 1/2"
... 6 squares 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
Green/purple plaid
... 4 strips 4 1/2" x width of fabric (WOF)

Sew!
1. Referring to Assembly Diagram, sew assorted white/cream print 8 1/2" x 24 1/2" strips together to make appliqué background.

2. Trace Templates A-Q on paper side of paper-backed fusible web. Cut apart, leaving small margin beyond drawn lines. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse to wrong side of appropriate fabrics; cut apart on drawn lines.
3. Referring to Assembly Diagram and photo, position template fabrics using background seam lines as placement guide, and keeping inside 1/4" seam allowances. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse in place. Machine zigzag stitch (Diagram I) around appliqué.

4. Sew 3 purple print and 3 green texture 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles together in a strip, alternating. Make 4. Sew 2 pieced strips to sides of quilt, watching orientation. Sew green and purple 2 1/2" squares to ends of remaining pieced strips; stitch to top and bottom of quilt, watching orientation.
5. Sew 4 1/2" x WOF green/purple plaid strips to sides; trim even with top/bottom. Sew remaining plaid strips to top/bottom; trim even. Sew 5 purple and 4 green 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles together in a strip, alternating. Make 4. Sew 2 pieced strips to sides of quilt. Sew green 2 1/2" squares to ends of remaining strips. Stitch pieced strips to top/bottom.
6. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Deb machine quilted selected details on the appliqués, and meander stitched the remainder of the quilt. Cut 8" length of purple/blue ribbon; fold in half and tack to base of magic wand star. Tie remaining purple/blue ribbon in bow; tack to top of streamers. Tie pink/green ribbon in bow; tack to top of cupcake. Bind quilt with green/pink print fabric (see Quiltmaking Fundamentals).
